West Bromwich Albion midfielder Somen Tchoyi is determined to turn it on against Carling Cup opponents Ipswich Town.
The Cameroon international replaced Jerome Thomas in the 66th-minute of Saturday's 4-1 win at Everton.
And his sensational strike - his third goal in five games - 15 minutes from time all-but ended the ten-man Toffees' resistance by restoring the Baggies' two-goal advantage.
"I'm working hard for the team and to try and get more time on the pitch," said Tchoyi to the WBA website.
"Every time I play I try my best to show what I can do.
"Tomorrow is a good chance for me to show I'm worthy of a starting place against Newcastle on Sunday.
"The whole team was happy with the result on Saturday and we're looking forward to the next game.
"I always try and do my best for the team and I was really pleased with my performance.
"The third goal made it safe for us and made us more confident.
"To play against ten men is never easy and it was good to get a fourth goal as well."
