West Brom make transfer coup for Portsmouth starlet Hurst

West Bromwich Albion have pulled off a coup in signing England youth international James Hurst.

Albion have re-signed Hurst on a free transfer from Portsmouth.

The 18-year-old right-back moved to Fratton Park two years ago but has now been reunited with the Academy players he grew up with - Lateef Elford-Alliyu, Romaine Sawyers, Ryan Allsop, Paul Downing, Sam Mantom and Kayleden Brown - on a pro contract at The Hawthorns.

The Birmingham-born defender, who initially joined Albion as a nine-year-old, has penned a two-year deal, plus a further year's option in the club's favour.
