West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has ruled out recalling on-loan Chris Wood from Championship Birmingham, insisting the team has cover for long term injury victim Shane Long. Although Wood has scored nine goals in his last eight appearances Hodgson believes the recall would not benefit the striker.
"We have no plans to bring him back at the moment," Hodgson told the Express and Star.
"We seem to be doing OK without him and I wouldn't want to bring him back just to bolster our squad or make our reserves stronger.
"To bring Chris back now would be the wrong thing to do, because he's getting so much playing time at Birmingham and using it very wisely."
