West Brom legend Robertson upbeat over new owners' plans

West Bromwich Albion legend Ally Robertson hopes the club's new owners made transfer cash available to manager Tony Pulis.

Robertson, who racked up 700-plus games in 18 years service, is looking for the soon-to-be new owners to push the club onwards and upwards.

“This could be a genuinely exciting time for the club with the chance to push on," he told the Birmingham Mail.

“I hope that the new owners want Pulis and back him to the hilt. We don't want another Leicester situation with Nigel Pearson when there was clearly a chasm from the start.

“The manager needs three or four players of genuine quality for Albion to be competitive next year And we have to improve the players they are replacing.

“Part of me is fearful that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

“We have all seen horror stories at Leeds, Birmingham and Cardiff when new owners come in and don't understand the club.

“But the better part of me thinks this could be a historic announcement with the chance for Albion to perhaps achieve the sort of levels of success it did in my playing career in the late 1960s and 1970s."
