West Brom legend Brown urges Clarke not to change too much too soon

West Bromwich Albion legend Tony Brown has urged Steve Clarke not to change too much too soon.

'Bomber' Brown, the club's record appearance-maker and goalscorer, hopes the former Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool No.2 sticks to the principles that saw Hodgson deliver 11th and 10th-place finishes in the Premier League.

"He's got loads of experience and he's worked under some top managers so he will have picked up a lot of pointers," Brown told the Express & Star.

"He's been with Kenny Dalglish and he's been with Jose Mourinho, which tells you something because Mourinho doesn't stand any mugs around him.

"Eventually he will have wanted to be his own man and get a manager's job.

"I'm hoping he can just carry on the good work that Roy Hodgson has done because he has established Albion as a good Premier League side in the last couple of years.

"All Albion fans just want the new man to continue progressing and improve the side even more. The foundations have been laid by Roy and it's up to the new head coach to keep the progress going."
