West Brom goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has explained leaving Manchester United.
Lindegaard is currently on-loan with Preston North End.
He told the Daily Mirror: "He [Louis Van Gaal] brought in Valdes and it was a tough year, getting degraded a couple of times or more, but there's nothing you can do about it.
"The manager wanted to go in a different direction, and I guess that goes back to his famous philosophy, so I'm not blaming him.
"My reason for staying at United was when Van Gaal came in. I took his arrival as a kind of restart.
"But it just didn't work out for me. It wasn't what I hoped for and what I expected. Looking back, I should have left United when Van Gaal arrived."
