West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster feels his decision to stay away from the England national team setup has allowed him to get his body right for club obligations.
The 28-year old, who is on loan from Birmingham City, is on temporary hiatus from international football so he can remain injury-free and at the moment he has no plans to again be involved with the Three Lions.
"It's as it is, to be honest with you," he told Sky Sports News.
"The main reason was just to get rid of any niggling injuries and at the minute I've stayed injury-free.
"It's been about two years since I missed a game through injury so I'm just happy about the way things are going at the minute and I want to keep it like that.
"I'm 28, I know that's not so old as a footballer, but if you look at my past injury record then it's not a great read.
"I've had two cruciates on the same knee, I've had wrist surgery, thumb surgery, I've broken enough bones in my fingers to not be too happy with it.
"But that's the way it is, I've just got to take each game as it comes and get through the week and just enjoy my football like I'm doing at the minute."
