West Brom keeper Foster impressed by debutant McAuley

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster was impressed by debutant Gareth McAuley for their 0-0 draw with Fulham.

Foster reckons Baggies Bosman McAuley turned in the sort of top-flight debut against the Cottagers that makes him think Albion should be aiming for a top-ten finish.

"I think realistically we've got to be looking towards tenth or eleventh place," he told the Albion website.

"I think that's where our true position should be. We've had a few disappointing results lately and a difficult start to the season with the teams that we have had to play against.

"Hopefully we can start picking up some points soon and start climbing up the table.

"We've got players who can score and plenty who can pick out a pass, and they can pick out players going through and things like that.

"Couple that with the defence where Macca has come in on his debut and headed balls and kicked everything clear.

"It's nice to have people like that in front of you."
