West Brom keeper Carson not taking captaincy for granted

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson says this season's club captaincy is yet to be decided.

The Baggies goalkeeper thrived in the role after being handed the honour in the wake of Jonathan Greening's departure last August.

But he revealed Roberto Di Matteo has yet to confirm his skipper for the 2010/11 campaign.

"It would be great to be captain again but the gaffer has said nothing about it yet," Carson told the WBA website.

"It will depend on if I'm going to play and things like that. It was brilliant being captain last year. It was a different challenge but a challenge I enjoyed.

"I would love to be the club captain again but we'll have to wait and see.

"It's a decision for the gaffer and if he asks me of course I'll say I want to keep it.

"The lads keep having a bit of banter by calling me 'skip' but I keep saying 'I'm not the captain yet. You'll have to wait and see if the gaffer gives me the thumbs up or not'."
