West Brom keeper Carson insists he's no England jinx

Scott Carson insists he's no England jinx.

The West Brom stopper's horrendous mix-up with John Terry gifted Germany their equaliser in Berlin.

That came a year after his previous international appearance - when a howler against Croatia led to England being knocked out of Euro 2008.

Carson, 23, insisted: "It wasn't great but I would not say it was a mistake similar to Croatia. If I'd spilled another long-shot then I probably wouldn't be talking. But it was just a mix-up in communication.

"JT thought the ball was coming a bit faster towards me and I thought he was going to knock it back to me. You see similar things every Saturday, I'm not going to get too down.

"But I was delighted to see JT's winner go in.

"We both said our versions of events afterwards and he was very good to me in the dressing room."

Fabio Capello sent Carson on as a half-time sub against Germany.

The keeper added: "I wasn't really nervous. It's good to get back in and hopefully I can keep my place. With this manager if you're not playing well for your club, you won't get in. But if I can play well for West Brom, I can look forward to England."
