West Brom keeper Carson claims morale still good despite blip in results

Scott Carson insists West Bromwich Albion players are not down despite picking up a solitary point from the last four Premier League games. Roberto Di Matteo's Baggies have fallen away slightly following a flying start to the season.Stoke City at The Hawthorns.

Albion have only beaten the Potters once in the last 25 league showdowns between the two teams, and Tony Pulis' troops will arrive in the Black Country full of confidence following back-to-back wins over Birmingham and Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium.

The Baggies number one and skipper told the Express & Star: "It's one point out of four games, which isn't as well as we have been doing, but we have still got 16 points on the board and a lot of games to play.

"So we're definitely not dropping our heads or getting too disappointed because there are a still a lot of games we think we can win.

"There will be a lot of important games between now and New Year."

Carson feels the club's "superb" fans have a role to play this season, and praised them for their support at the DW Stadium.

More than 3,500 Albion fans made the trip to Lancashire and Carson added: "I thought the fans were superb on Saturday.

"We had a good start and maybe people can get a bit carried away but at the end of the game the fans were still singing and shouting and clapping us off.

"That was nice to see because they could have got a little bit disappointed and not given us the support we needed.

"But they were absolutely superb. Everyone was down and pretty gutted. We knew beforehand it was going to be a massive game for us and we thought we could take all three points.

"It was probably a dull game for people watching but they are the kind of games that we need to grind results out from.

"We would definitely have taken a goalless draw but that's the way it goes sometimes. I think I only had to make one save, which was in the last minute when we were chasing the game.

"It's another big game on Saturday and another tough team to play against but we've got a good week to prepare."
