West Brom keeper Carson accepts giving up captaincy

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson had mixed emotions giving up the captaincy.

Chris Brunt has kept the skipper's armband since Carson's first team return.

"When I knew I was going to be back playing I didn't really put too much thought into whether I'd be captain," he said. "I think when Brunty kept the captain's armband it did take a bit of pressure off me.

"I have enjoyed being captain. We've had some good highs and have been promoted, so it's been great.

"But I'm not going to be knocking on the gaffer's door and saying I want the armband back. I'm happy taking a step back and keeping out of the limelight.

"Brunty has done a good job as skipper and we've had some good results."
