West Brom hero Robertson urges fans to get behind Irvine

West Bromwich Albion legend Ally Robertson has urged fans to get behind new manager Alan Irvine.

Irvine's arrival at The Hawthorns has been met with anger and dismay by supporters expecting the appointment of former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood.

But Robertson told the Birmingham Mail: "The Albion fans were expecting a bigger name for sure, someone with a Premier League profile.

"They seemed to warm to Sherwood's fiery character but you have to accept this decision and move on. It's not always the best speakers in front of the camera that make the best managers behind the scenes.

"Jeremy Peace has made the call and you have to back him and back the new manager and hope that now he (Peace) will give him the backing to bring in the players the club so badly need."
