West Brom happy to let Morrison take Scotland call

West Bromwich Albion insist it is fine that James Morrison can report to duty for the Scotland national team despite suffering a head injury on the weekend.

The midfielder required several stitches after sustaining a gash on his head in an aerial challenge with Laurent Koscielny in the 2-2 home draw with Arsenal on Saturday and was told by doctor's not to travel back home until early this week.

Morrison left for Scotland after the Baggies match and will now go with the squad to La Manga for a week's training ahead of Sunday's friendly with Brazil in London.

He has admitted that West Brom gave him permission to go despite calls from the doctor not to and is excited about taking on the Samba Kings at the Emirates Stadium.

"The doctor tried to stop me going but I said nothing is going to stop me having the chance to play against Brazil," he told the Daily Record.

"I'm really looking forward to this game. You don't often get the chance to play Brazil and test yourself."

West Brom later said in a statement: "Some of the articles we've seen suggest James has defied club orders but that could not be further from the truth.

"James was scheduled to fly up to Scotland on Saturday night but due to the fact he was suffering from concussion, we thought it would be wise to delay his flight until Monday.

"This decision had the full backing of the Scottish FA's medical department and James has now linked up with the Scotland squad and is preparing for the Brazil friendly."
