West Brom forward Berahino has England World Cup ambitions

West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino would love to be part of England's World Cup squad, but knows Roy Hodgson will not give him any special favours. The 20-year-old knows Hodgson from his time as Baggies manager but knows this will not help him in his bid to secure a place in the squad.

Berahino told The Sun: "I do think that a couple of youngsters will be in the squad and it wouldn't be a gamble.

"You only have to see how well Ross and Raheem are playing to see they have a chance.

"Any of us playing in the Premier League has to want to go to the World Cup. I'm no different.

"But this is only my first proper season so I'm not going to be shouting that I should be in the squad.

"I just put my trust in God and what will be will be.

"Roy Hodgson knows me from his time as manager of West Brom and has talked to me one-to-one but he won't give me any special favours."

Berahino recently signed a new deal at the Hawthorns, having previously attracted attention from Juventus, and he has no regrets about his decision to commit to the Baggies.

He said: "I was aware of Juventus' interest and they are a massive club, but I didn't want to leave West Brom.

"I'm a Baggie, I've been there since I was 12 and I supported them when I wasn't playing for them.

"It is a club which means a lot to me and I want to do my best now so we aren't dragged into the relegation battle."
