West Bromwich Albion appear to have missed out on the signing of Besiktas striker Demba Ba.

The Mail on Sunday says Shanghai Shenhua claim they have completed the signing of former West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea striker Ba from Besiktas for a fee thought to be around £9million.

The 30-year-old Senegal international had been heavily linked with a move to West Brom this week, but has instead reportedly decided to sign for the Chinese side.

Besiktas have yet to confirm the deal, but Shanghai posted a 'Welcome to Shanghai Shenhua' picture with a news story on their website on Saturday.

The Baggies had been in talks with Besiktas over the weekend for the Senegalese.
