West Bromwich Albion defender Goran Popov has seen a loan move to Bolton Wanderers blocked.

The Trotters had hoped to persuade the authorities to sanction their move for the Macedonia international, who travelled to the Reebok on Monday only to have the transfer blocked, says the Express & Star.

But the Premier League have refused to budge and Bolton now look set to turn their attentions elsewhere.

With Popov already on loan at The Hawthorns from Dynamo Kiev, the authorities insist the proposed transfer would breach regulations.
