West Bromwich Albion have held talks with former Real Betis coach Pepe Mel.
The Daily Express says Mel has been admired by Albion's hierarchy, who have already made initial enquiries as to his availability.
West Brom could make an appointment later this week if talks are successful.
Mel is one of several candidates that a panel, led by chairman Jeremy Peace and sporting and technical director Richard Garlick, wish to meet.
