Keith Downing is backing Wolves and West Bromwich Albion to beat the drop.
The Baggies first team coach also hopes Birmingham City and Aston Villa can stay up to preserve a strong Midlands contingent in the Barclays Premier League.
Downing told the WBA website: "I genuinely feel both will survive - and I would love it!
"I also want Birmingham and Villa to survive.
"It's good for the area.
"It's been so long since we've all been together, so I would hate it to change.
"From our point of view there is a direction, purpose, structure, work ethic, organisation and that's why I feel there is an opportunity to survive.
"With Wolves I've always felt Mick McCarthy will generate good spirit and handle it well under pressure - as Roy Hodgson does.
"Wolves have durability about them and calmness.
"I don't know about supporters - but certainly among the footballing community we hope it can happen."
