West Brom coach Appleton taking Spanish language lessons

West Bromwich Albion coach Michael Appleton is learning Spanish this summer.

Appleton feels it will help his management if he can master a new language.

"I give myself a goal every season and I think my main goal next season will be to pick up the Spanish again," he told the Sunday Mercury.

"I've done a fair bit already with Gonzo's (Gonzola Jara) English teacher but I found it quite difficult because I'm not a patient person.

"The girl that was teaching me was great and at times we were just laughing our heads off in the lessons because I couldn't get certain pronunciations right.

"There was certain things that were dead easy for me but other things that were so difficult, I just couldn't do it.

"I'd say something in my Manc accent and she'd just burst out laughing!

"You see the way the gaffer operates though and it's clearly worth having.

"The amount of countries Roy has worked in, he's picked up a lot."
