West Brom chief Hammond: Pulis contract?

West Brom chief Nick Hammond insists there's no issues over Tony Pulis' contract.

The Welshman has one season left on his current £2million-a-year deal at The Hawthorns.

He has stated in the past that he would love to be in charge of Albion long-term to build a team capable of breaking into the top ten and challenging for cups.

But Hammond says Pulis isn't worried about his contract right now.

“Good managers are comfortable in their own body and what they do," he said: “I'm sure the chairman and Tony will speak over the summer (about his contract), but it's not something Tony has raised with me and I don't sense there's any stress on his part.

“Does it unsettle the dressing room? It's irrelevant.

“Players are players. They play for the manager but a player could move any time.

“People over-egg this. If you've a player of significant value, then it's a totally different issue.

“But good managers and coaches are confident in their own ability and I've never seen one get too stressed about the fact he's got only 12 months left on his contract."
