West Brom chief Ashworth admits transfer plans delayed by Euros

West Bromwich Albion football chief Dan Ashworth admits their transfer plans are being delayed by the Euros.

Ashworth is working closely with new boss Steve Clarke on ways to improve a Baggies squad.

"It doesn't really affect things," Ashworth told the WBA website.

"It probably just delays it for two or three weeks. Last summer things started happening because there wasn't an international tournament.

"What you find every two years, when there is a World Cup or Euros, the transfer window starts to pick up the week later.

"The players that have been at the Euros come back a couple of weeks later than everybody else, they need to get their rest.

"It doesn't make any difference the way this country runs or the way football is run in the transfer window.

"We have about six weeks and July and August is when the majority of people do their business."
