West Bromwich Albion are chasing want-away Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone.

The Sunday Mercury says he reportedly has a £6.5million release clause and is not expected to demand excessively high wages.

Albion need to replace Romelu Lukaku and they see the 29-year-old who scored 13 goals last term as the ideal man.

They do face a battle for his signature, though.

Everton, managed by his former boss Roberto Martinez, are keen, as are Liverpool and Hull City.
