West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace has been chasing new manager Alan Irvine for FIVE years.
The Scot's appointment has been greeted by an underwhelming response - at best - from the Baggies support.
The Mirror says Peace nearly appointed Irvine in June 2009 before they eventually turned to Roberto Di Matteo.
Irvine, then Preston boss, couldn't agree terms as Peace was insisted on a hefty compensation clause after just losing Tony Mowbray to Celtic.
