West Brom captain Brunt breaks silence over boo-boys

West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt has broken his silence over being targeted by the boo-boys this season.

The Northern Ireland international was targeted for sarcastic applause when he was substituted in the 2-0 defeat to Everton less than a month ago.

"Punters pay their money and they've got a right to their opinion," Brunt told the Birmingham Mail. "Personally I didn't think it was right but that's their opinion.

"You just get on with it, get your head down and work hard in training and the week we had after that sums the group up really.

"To be honest I didn't think the Everton game was overly bad.

"We made two mistakes and conceded two goals and then once the second goal went in for Everton we lost our shape a little bit and Fozzy had to make a couple of saves. But for 65 minutes we were well in it.

"It's not the first time it's happened and it probably won't be the last time but it doesn't help anybody this early in the season but it's credit to everybody the way we've come back in the last couple of weeks.

"We lost at Liverpool but the fans will go away knowing we've had a right go."
