West Bromwich Albion are favourites to land Aston Villa striker John Carew.
The Daily Mail says Carew is on the brink of signing for neighbours West Brom after snubbing a move to arch-rivals Birmingham City.
The Baggies will cough up £1 million to land the Norway international.
Carew, 31, has been at Villa Park for almost four years, making 132 appearances and scoring 52 goals, but has yet to hit the net in the current campaign and has been used only sparingly since manager Gerard Houllier took charge in September.
