West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has praised Dean Kiely for the way he accepted playing second fiddle to Scott Carson for last week's Premiership opener at Arsenal.
"It was a close call," said Mowbray, regarding his decision to opt for Carson.
"Dean Kiely was very good during pre-season and has reacted in a very positive manner to Scott arriving. We saw during pre-season that there was very little between them I would suggest.
"They've both excellent, both made good saves, both looked very hungry on the training ground. Ultimately I have to make a decision and Dean reacted how I expected - like a consumate professional.
"While he was disappointed he accepted the decision and is getting on with working hard."
