West Brom boss Mowbray explains Grof 'trials'

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has explained the reasoning behind having Hibs goalkeeper David Grof join training this week.

"David's not on trial," he told the WBA website. "I took him to Hibs three seasons ago and he's just a young boy I wanted to see how he's developed over the last few years.

"We asked the question and they said okay. He's still only 19 years old.

"There is no great urgency to pursue another young goalkeeper.

"We've got Luke Daniels out at Shrewsbury, who is getting rave reviews every week from people who think he's got a chance of being a real good goalkeeper.

"We've got Dean Kiely, who has been a model professional for us and gives us that safety valve of experience and quality sitting behind Scott Carson.

"It's not as if we're desperate in the goalkeeping situation at the moment.

"If we do anything it will be just adding another young goalkeeper and we'll see how they get on."
