West Brom boss Mel: Sinclair not doing enough to get into team

West Bromwich Albion boss Pepe Mel has explained the absence of on-loan Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair.

Sinclair failed to make the bench for Saturday's game against Cardiff.

Mel opted for youngsters Kemar Roofe and Liam O'Neil.

"He didn't play simply because the players who are here were the best for this game," said Mel. "I choose the players according to what's gone on during the week.

"Which is why Roofe, O'Neil, (Donervorn) Daniels have been on the bench [Daniels was named as a substitute last week, but was not involved on Saturday].

"I can only pick 18 players for the squad. Only 11 can play. I choose the best players. We need players with a positive attitude and a strong attitude right now."
