West Brom boss Irvine waiting for Pocognoli return

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine hopes to have Sebastien Pocognoli back for their next game after the international break.

The Belgian full back was forced off at half time of Sunday's defeat to Newcastle with a hamstring tear.

"There's a little tear there but nothing that we're concerned about and nothing that should keep him out for any length of time," Irvine said.

"Speaking to the medical people, they think he's got a genuine chance for the Chelsea game.

"The discussion has been had with the Belgian federation and they were happy for us to get him scanned here and send over the scan report and they're perfectly happy for him to stay here.

"He doesn't play for them every game so they're less likely to be panicking about the fact he's not available than perhaps if it was one of the players who was definitely going to play."
