West Brom boss Irvine: More to come from Dawson

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine is confident Craig Dawson can only get better.

Dawson has impressed in recent games at the back.

Irvine said: "I think he has done really well so far but he is a young player, a young centre back and I feel that centre backs get better with age because they learn where they should be.

"Positionally he has still got things to improve on. He has still got to continue to develop as far as his passing and things like that are concerned.

"But he will get better because he is desperate to improve.

"He is not happy now, he is not going to sit there thinking 'Great, I've got a new contract, let's put my feet up'. He works at his game all the time.

"[When] We have finished our training and he is doing extra running. He stays out and does extra heading, he does extra passing. That just proves the type of lad he is.

"He is a lad who behaves like the perfect professional. He has earned what he has got but he also knows there are two really good centre backs just waiting for him to slip up at the moment and breathing down his neck."
