West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine says Saido Berahino can act as inspiration for his academy players.
Albion have a number of youngsters on the periphery of first-team football, such as Adil Nabi, Bradley Garmston and Kemar Roofe.
"People know there have been some very good players here who left early because they were snapped up by big clubs as school boys - Izzy Brown being one example," said Irvine to the Birmingham Mail.
"But what's important is that we make a lot of the fact that Saido Berahino has come through the system here, is playing in our first team and should be the best person who sets the pathway for all the young players we have.
"We have some really talented players in our academy and it's important they see this as a place they can develop.
"We've seen it at Southampton, we had it at Everton - a history of players who came through and went on from there for huge amounts of money, Wayne (Rooney) being the main one."
