West Brom boss Irvine: AMAZING if Gamboa work permit rejected

West Bromwich Albion are anxiously waiting for a deal over Rosenborg fullback Cristian Gamboa to be given the all-clear.

The Baggies have signed Gamboa from Rosenborg for a figure just under £2million.

The right wing-back's move, however, is still subject to him being handed a work permit.

Baggies boss Alan Irvine told the Birmingham Mail: "We're not in control.

"But I think it would be amazing if we didn't get him one over the line.

"He's played just over 70 per cent of the games, but that's not including a non-Fifa ranked tournament which has been included, yet his club stopped him from going to that.

"His club kept Cristian back to play in some league games.

"If, for example, we'd had league games Stephane wouldn't have gone to play for Benin so it will be ridiculous if we don't get that over the line but it's out of our hands."
