West Brom boss Hodgson yet to decide on Gera debut date

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson is yet to decide when Zoltan Gera will be re-introduced to Baggies fans.

Hodgson is refusing to rush the 32-year-old back too soon and will err on the side of caution if the likes of Paul Scharner, James Morrison, Graham Dorrans and Chris Brunt return from their international trips fit for club duty.

He told the WBA website: "Zoltan is fit.

"He's not match-fit because he hasn't played a game since last season, but he's looking very good physically.

"Of course, he's short of match practice so I wouldn't be looking to throw him in from the start of the game unless I have to.

"If we have other alternatives, the chances are I will leave it a bit longer because he has only done two training sessions with half a team.

"Zoltan started training with us on Monday.

"He could be in the squad for Norwich but it will depend on what has happened in the internationals - who comes back fit and what my choices are.

"It's a long season and I certainly don't want to throw him in before I have to."
