“It’s a step up for Danny Graham and Shane Long,” continued Hodgson.
“Neither came to their new clubs by slipping under the radar. Both had to endure talk about their chances of success. And you need to judge them over a period of time.
“It’s no good having a good start if you end up having a diabolical finish.
“We look for consistency. I have only seen a couple of episodes of Danny Graham on video this season so I don’t know if he’s doing well or badly but he’s probably doing well, just looking for his first goal.
“I hope he and Shane take their opportunities because it would prove that there are players from the Championship who can take their opportunities at a higher level if given the backing and support and opportunities.”
