West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has revealed he's been a long-term fan of defender Jonas Olsson.
Hodgson has revealed he once tried to sign Olsson during his spell at Norwegian side Viking seven years ago and has kept tabs on him ever since.
"I remember Jonas as a lad in Sweden, although I have obviously seen him play for West Brom," he told the WBA website.
"When I was with Viking, he was playing for Landskrona.
"He was scouted and his name was flagged up. We were prepared to take him to Viking as it was a step up for him, both in terms of quality and wages.
"But he got an offer from NEC Nijmegen in Holland, which was probably an even better move, certainly financially.
"Because we had an interest then, I've always watched him."
