West Brom boss Hodgson: Gera still some way away

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson admits Zoltan Gera is still some way from a first team appearance.

Hodgson explained the Bosman signing will now make the most of the fortnight until the next game with Wolves to fully recover after suffering a set-back in his efforts to overcome a summer ankle operation.

"Gera is still in rehabilitation and there's no chance of Zoltan being ready for Saturday's game at Sunderland," Hodgson told the WBA website.

"He hasn't trained now for almost three weeks since he had the recurrence of the ankle injury in training.

"He was making good progress but he had a recurrence of his injury and since then it must have been a good two/two-and-a-half weeks since he trained.

"He can't go straight into a game.

"We will have to wait for the international break and I'm pretty confident that come the end of the international break he'll be raring to go."
