West Brom boss Hodgson excited by potential of Long, Odemwingie combo

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson is excited by their front pairing Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long.

Odemwingie struck the winner at Norwich City yesterday.

"I saw a lot of promise and potential from them as a partnership," Hodgson told the WBA website. "For 70 minutes, they were very, very good and looked dangerous together.

"Maybe, with them tiring and with Peter's penalty miss, I don't think during the last 15 minutes they did as much for us as they had been doing, with too many misplaced passes, like the midfield.

"I don't think either of them were in top form, although Peter did very well for his goal and did some nice things.

"But we must remember it's Peter's first full game of the season after a long period of injury and for Shane, of course, there were doubts as to whether he could even play because of the calf strain he picked up whilst with Ireland."
