West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson aims to close a deal for Dundee United midfielder Scott Allan next week.

The Baggies have agreed a £400,000 fee and Hodgson met the midfielder for talks yesterday.

Glasgow Rangers also want Allan, 20, and Hodgson said: "Scott's one of the most exciting talents in Scottish football. I hope we can persuade him his future lies here.

"He'll certainly come into the first-team squad straight away."
