West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson says they must be careful about their summer market planning.
Hodgson insisted the club will not rush into decisions and claimed he will look at the bigger picture.
"It's not just about players whose contracts are running out but about what players will be coming in and how that will affect players whose contracts are ending," said Hodgson.
"The players we have are doing a fine job and I can trust them. But we will be looking at those things in context. It won't be a question of whether we want someone or don't want him, or whether he wants us.
"It's a question of, if we do want him, whether he will get enough of a game, because some of the players who are coming towards the end of their contracts might not thank me for nailing their feet down to the squad if they won't get a game."
And Hodgson says discussions over squad strengthening are continuous. He said: "Our work never stops. We're inundated with reports and videos of players."
