West Brom boss Hodgson: Ashworth has already kicked off summer transfer plans

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has revealed their summer market plans are well underway.

He admitted Hawthorns Sporting & Technical Director Dan Ashworth has already made initial enquiries into a number of possible recruits.

"Dan Ashworth is in talks and discussions with quite a lot of people because that's how it works," said Hodgson to the WBA website.

"You don't just quite simply say 'we think we'll have player 'X' and away we go'.

"If you're United you do, if you're anything other than that you realise there are other people in the picture and you perhaps have other ideas as well.

"What you tend to do is make enquiries and find out how things are going then at a certain stage later on you see what's still there, what can we do and who have we got?

"You can rank your targets but it doesn't matter if you do or not.

"It's who you're going to get at the end of the day that counts."
