West Brom boss Hodgson admits striker signing priority

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson is staying tightlipped on his transfer targets.

He confirmed that, even if the club manage to boost his attacking options with a potential partner for Peter Odemwingie, he is still keeping an open mind regarding the formation of his team this term.

"We are in pursuit of a striker and it will depend on two things - the player and his club," Hodgson told the WBA website.

"But I'm hopeful.

"Names have been bandied about regarding another goalkeeper but now is the time to start taking that side of things seriously and find one.

"A lot of players are being linked with us at the moment and it is better that I don't add any fuel to speculation regarding the names.

"I prefer to wait and see what happens.

"I would prefer at the moment to guard the business we're trying to do and the players we're trying to contact and get hold of.

"It's far too early for me to give indications about which players we're looking at."
