West Brom boss Di Matteo not ready to give up on Moore

West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto di Matteo insists the Hawthorns career of Luke Moore is not dead.

Di Matteo admits he was disappointed not to get more out of the 24-year-old striker last season.

But he is glad to see him making an impression on loan with Derby County, who have extended his Pride Park spell to a third month, with a view to extending it until the end of the season.

"I can't comment on what happened before but I gave everybody a clean sheet when I came here," Di Matteo told the WBA website.

"Even with Roman Bednar, after all his problems, we helped him out and gave him a new start and a new life at this club. So I don't have any prejudice in that sense. But you have to grasp the opportunity and show that you want it.

"At the end of the day it's about performing and winning matches. I gave Luke a year. We have worked with him and he probably had one of his better seasons with us.

"He scored four goals in 25 starts last year.

"It's down to him whether he has the desire to make it happen.

"He's a lovely boy but you have to assess people on their performances."
