West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke is wary of the clubs around them splashing out big this summer.

Clarke knows, for example, West Ham United are showing big ambition this summer.

"If you look in the papers - and I know it's probably only speculation - clubs are already talking about big figures for signing players.

"West Ham, who finished below us in the league, have already made a substantial bid for a striker (Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla) and you know that teams below you will spend big money to try to get above you, so you have to be on your toes."
