West Brom boss Clarke: Man Utd shock was for Brown, Hope

Steve Clarke dedicated West Bromwich Albion's victory at Manchester United to former stars Tony Brown and Bobby Hope.

The fixture fell on the 50th anniversary of 'Bomber' Brown's debut for Albion and on Hope's 70th birthday.

Clarke said afterwards: "Everyone who was listening to me before the game will know that I said I was going to Old Trafford to be positive, and my players did that as well.

"I thought we were tremendous. And when you come to a place like Old Trafford you have to play an almost perfect game - we did that.

"It was a tribute to Bomber Brown and also Bobby Hope, who celebrated his 70th birthday yesterday and who hasn't been too well so hopefully that will cheer him up a little bit.

"We looked dangerous, we passed the ball around well and all I can do is praise the players. We created in midfield and we looked a threat every time we went forward."
