West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke admits Yassine El Ghanassy was the victim of circumstance at the Hawthorns.
The winger arrived on-loan from Ghent with a big reputation, but only lasted until January.
"Our team started the season strongly and it was very difficult for Yassine to get into the starting line-up," said Clarke.
"For a confidence player like him, it was disastrous. Therefore we thought it better to let him go to somewhere where he can play regularly, instead of keeping him until the end of the season."
