West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke has defended Shane Long after a Twitter outburst.
His difficult campaign so far took another twist this week when he criticised Republic of Ireland caretaker manager Noel King for leaving him out of their games against Germany and Kazakhstan.
Clarke shrugged off Long's social media outburst, though.
"It's a long 10 days if you go away and expect to play for your country and don't get selected. It can be disappointing," he said.
"I didn't see the Tweet so I don't really know. I wouldn't think there would be too many bad words in the Tweet.
"If he said he was disappointed not to be selected then I would think that's acceptable.
"I'm not going to tell another manager who to pick or how to run their squad. Players get selected, they go away and the manager in charge of that country will decide if they play or not."
