West Brom approach Spurs for Robinson

West Brom have made an approach to Tottenham for goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

The Guardian says it is understood that Albion are the only club to have approached Spurs regarding the availability of the former Leeds keeper.

Dean Kiely was Albion's first-choice last season but he will be 38 in October, prompting Tony Mowbray to consider a younger goalkeeper for the club's return to the Premier League; he has also looked into the possibility of taking Scott Carson on loan from Liverpool. Robinson is keen to leave Spurs and resurrect his career but he is expected to favour a move to Aston Villa over Albion.
