Belgium international Sébastien Pocognoli is in talks with West Bromwich Albion.
The Birmingham Mail says the left-back, currently with Hannover 96, was due for a medical with Albion on Friday, with a view to signing permanently.
The 26-year-old was identified as a target after the pursuit of Jason Davidson stumbled into problems over his contractual issue with Heracles Almelo.
Pocognoli is expected to cost more than £1million should the deal go through.
