Wes Brown set to land Blackburn deal

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown is set to resume his career with Blackburn Rovers.

Brown, released by Sunderland, looks set to resume his playing career at Blackburn, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.

The 36-year-old former England man was offered the chance to train with Sky Bet Championship side over the summer, and after building his fitness, the Lancashire side have confirmed they're ready to offer him a permanent deal.

Manager Owen Coyle said: “I've spoken to Wes over the last number of weeks.

“It was important that we got him up to speed in terms of fitness and he has now come through that process, so that (giving him a contract) is something we would look to do."
